Many millions of people in the UK are affected by serious physical health issues annually, impacting quality of life.

Alzheimer’s Society

Provides support and advice for people affected by dementia, advocating for better care and funding research into the condition. Helpline: 0333 150 3456. Opening hours: Mon to Weds: 9am – 8pm, Thurs and Fri: 9am – 5pm, Sat and Sun: 10am – 4pm.

 

Asthma and Lung UK

Offers advice, research, and support for those living with asthma and lung conditions, helping them manage their condition and improve their quality of life. Helpline: 0300 222 5800, email helpline@asthmaandlung.org.uk or contact the WhatsApp helpline for asthma at 07999 377 775.

 

Bowel Cancer UK

Supports individuals affected by bowel cancer, providing expert information and funding research to save lives. Contact: 020 7940 1760 Monday to Friday 9am-5pm, email at admin@bowelcanceruk.org.uk.

 

The bowel cancer screening programme

Brain Tumour Charity

Dedicated to fighting brain tumours through research, support, and raising awareness to improve the lives of patients. Whether you’ve been diagnosed with a brain tumour or a family member or friend has, they are here to help: 0808 800 0004.

 

British Heart Foundation

British Liver Trust

Advocates for better liver health, providing information and support services to those affected by liver diseases. Helpline – talk to a nurse: 0800 652 7330 (9:00am to 3:00pm

British Skin Foundation

Funds research and offers support for individuals dealing with skin conditions, aiming to improve treatment and care. The British Skin Foundation is the only UK charity that raises money to fund research into all types of skin diseases, including skin cancer. Does not offer 1:1 medical advice.

 

Cancer Research UK

Funds groundbreaking research into cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment, while providing information and support for cancer patients. Nurse helpline: 0808 800 4040 or ask a question via email. Cannot diagnose you or give a medical opinion.

 

Crohn’s & Colitis UK

Supports people affected by Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis through information, advocacy, and research funding. Helpline: 0300 222 5700 or get help via email. The website also has live chat.

 

Cystic Fibrosis Trust

Offers support, information, and funding for research into cystic fibrosis, helping those affected live longer and healthier lives. Diabetes UK

Diabetes UK is a leading charity focused on supporting people affected by diabetes through research, advocacy, and education. Epilepsy Society

Provides advice, support, and research funding to improve the lives of people affected by epilepsy. The UK’s only charity transforming the lives of people with epilepsy through world-leading research, advocacy and care. Leukemia Care

Lupus UK

Macmillan Cancer Support

Provides comprehensive services, including emotional, financial, and practical support for those affected by cancer. Helpline: 0808 808 0000 – 8am to 8pm – free from landlines and mobiles, in the UK. Email support or chat online 8am to 8pm.

 

Migraine Trust

Provides information, support, and advocacy to help those affected by migraines manage their condition and access effective treatment. Helpline: 0808 802 0066 (Mon-Fri, 10am-4pm) or get help via this online form.

 

Motor Neurone Disease Association

Offers support and advocacy for those affected by motor neurone disease, funding research and raising awareness. Helpline: 0808 802 6262 or email or visit the MND forum.

 

Multiple Sclerosis Society

Supports people living with MS through information, financial grants, and research funding to improve treatments and care. Helpline: 0808 800 8000 Monday to Friday 9am-7pm, email helpline@mssociety.org.ukor join the online forum for community support.

 

National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society

Provides information and support services for those affected by rheumatoid arthritis, their families, friends, carers and health professionals. Helpline: 0800 298 7650.

 

Parkinson’s UK

Prostate Cancer UK

Provides information, support, and research funding to help men affected by prostate cancer manage their condition. Helpline: 0800 074 8383. Check your risk. There is also email support, online chat, WhatsApp support and you can also text NURSE to 70004 to request a call back from a specialist nurse. There is also a sexual support service to discuss how treatment affects your sexuality and relationships, and suggest treatments or coping strategies.

 

Sickle Cell Society

Offers support, information, and advocacy for people affected by sickle cell disease, helping improve care and raise awareness. Helpline: 0780 973 6089 Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (10am-5pm).  Confidential email service: helpline@sicklecellsociety.org they aim to respond in five working days.

 

Spinal Injuries Association

The Stroke Association

Helps stroke survivors and their families by providing rehabilitation support, information, and campaigning for better stroke care. Helpline: 0303 3033 100. Join the online community.
